The Pegu Club- form + function in a glass

Updated: May 15, 2020

Like many of his peers, Walter Gropius was a very stylish man. He was known for his immaculate black suits, and black bow tie and he expected the same level of sophistication from his friends and colleagues. According to TAC mythology, Gropius refused to lunch with a colleague whose shoes were worn and falling apart. The Pegu club, is as classic and sophisticated as the neat black suits Gropius favored. Simple but never simplistic-with only three ingredients plus a dash of bitters, it’s easy to make and even easier to drink. The Angoustura bitters gives the cocktail a delicate blush, so you don’t have to choose between form and function. This perfectly balanced cocktail is delicious in any season, over ice or chilled in a coupe. Cheers!

The Pegu Club The Pegu Club Cocktail dates to 1920's Myanmar, known as Burma while under British Colonial rule. It was created and served at the Pegu Club, hence the name.
