It is telling that Eileen Gray named the chair in this photo the Non- Conformist. Designed for greater user flexibility, only one arm is upholstered, allowing the user to sit in a variety of positions, including sideways. Like many of her designs, it features luxurious yet functional materials such as chromed tube steel and canvas. Its stripped down design is characteristic of the depth of thought and research into the biometrics of a piece of furniture that makes EG’s furniture unique and yet universal.
